Cane is directly imported and individually prepared in-house by professional Oboist Don Werdick. All cane processed is grown either on the ETS Rigotti or L. Pisoni cane fields located in France's southern Var region (Cogolin, Grimaud, Fréjus and Hyéres), which is well known for producing superior reed cane. It is aged a minimum of three years and is medium gold to golden brown in color, smooth texture with a density that is medium hard producing a rich and stable tone. This cane is for the professional oboist. Water used during in-house processing is reverse osmosis purified. Cane is hand gouged using RDG-USA and Reeds ‘n Stuff-Germany gouging machines. Cane is hand shaped using a quality shaping machine manufactured by Reeds ‘n Stuff with RDG shaper templates. Paid/verified orders shipped within seven days.

REED BLANKS
Carefully selected hand gouged & shaped cane, tied on a staple. Bark is left on the cane with minimal scraping to the tip - only enough to allow the blades to be clipped open. With moderate skill, an oboist can finish the reed to meet their own unique performance preference.

STAPLES
Stevens and Chiarugi staples are drawn from a full bar of brass or nickel silver and then they are completely turned outside and inside (seamless processing) using high precision machinery, automated systems and are checked manually by experienced personnel to ensure an excellent quality product. Note: Chiarugi-Italy is also the manufacturer of staples that are rebranded by leading suppliers world-wide.

REED DRYING STAND
Made in Italy by Chiarugi with precision machined solid aluminum drying mandrels that hold either oboe, oboe d'amore and English horn reeds. Base is made of solid Grenadilla wood (African blackwood) with resilient finish. Dimensions are 4.70" x 2.30" x .45" (cm 12x5x1) with 13 fixed mandrels.
